PROFESSOR TREVOR BLACKBURNS original document ALTERNATE EARTHING METHOD is based on our RVD product range which we will specifically refer to in this document as follows:
Quote and we acknowledge the writer: Professor Trevor Blackburn. Associate Professor University of NSW. School of Electrical Engineering and Telecom.
On page 11- 3. The RVD Method Protection. 3.1 Paragraph 4 specifically states the following:
While the RVD operation system relies on relays to effect isolation of the circuit, because the voltage sensing is faster than the current sensing of the RCD, the operations of the relays can also be made faster than in the case of the RCD. Tests have shown that an RVD device will operate more quickly than RCD devices when subject to the same fault situations.
Similarly of page 15 -3-3.3 Long Term reliability and checking the document states the following:
It was noted earlier that one problem arising from the use of RCDs is damage or contamination that can occur over time and is not detected because of the lack of testing of devices on the recommended monthly basis.
The faults that were found were causes by lightning or surge voltage-associated damage to the current-sensing electronics and tripping circuits and to contamination (dust)on the pole faces of the polarized release type RCDs
The RVD device has a similar inbuilt test facility that simulates a fault when the test is initiated. It will also suffer from the same reluctance of forgetfulness of people to perform regular tests.
How- ever because it does not suffer from the problems of current measurements and depend on magnetic flux monitoring to achieve fault sensing, the RVD device is less prone to external influences.
The electronics is simple with no sensitive microelectronics and the relays that are used to effect isolation of supply are quite robust and sealed against contamination.
They have a lifetime specification for some hundreds of thousands of operations and thus will not suffer mechanical impairment over the lifetime of the RVD.
Accelerated life tests of the RVD have confirmed the lifetime specifications.

Professor Trevor Blackburn has not participated in any other document regarding the RVD and we hold a written statement from him to support and remonstrate this fact.
To add to the above statements all RVD-SAFE RVD models RVD-EMR, RVD-EI and RVD-E are potted to add to the sealing against contamination.
The RVD-SAFE product RVD-E is the only product that can operate without an RCD having the ability to isolate independently with its own test and rest buttons so it alone with no effect from contamination has the potential to achieve the highest longevity of the hundreds of thousands of operations of the relay controlled RVD.
The RVD-SAFE RVD-E is only available for isolated power supplies.
The RVD-SAFE EMR is the only product that can detect Reverse Polarity supply of active and neutral protecting RCBO from incorrect installation as per clearly marked on the RCBO.
The RVD-SAFE products RVD-EMR, RVD-EI and RVD-E are the only products authorised by the patent owners of the working and commercially viable original Residual Voltage Technology using relays called the RVD to be marketed and sold.
The RVD-SAFE products RVD-EMR, RVD-EI and RVD-E are the only products approved by the Trade Mark owners of the original residual voltage technology called RVD (residual Voltage Device) to be used for marketing and selling.
The RVD-Safe products have been originally the only units approved by NSW Fair Trading namely RVD-EMR, RVD-EI and RVD-E in both 240V and 110V using the acknowledged relay isolation operation and given the right of use of the Approval number NSW 25662 in 2012 and then in 2017 made a non declared article.
The RVD-EMI, RVD-EI and RVD-E is only available from RVD-SAFE as the sole supplier of the RVD Residual Voltage Device representing the Residual Voltage Technology.
The RVD-SAFE Power Leads are tested and approved to AS/NZS 3190 Class H: IP66 with the approval Number NSW 27242.
